Service, music and New York
Vincent Kane began serving others early. At seventeen he became a volunteer firefighter in Rockaway Point. He later volunteered with a Red Cross disaster relief team and served as a New York City police officer before joining the FDNY.
He attended Xaverian High School and Marist College.
Vincent was also a guitarist who loved the Grateful Dead, the Beatles and the Allman Brothers. He enjoyed museums, restaurants, concerts and coffeehouses, and he loved spending time in Central Park—running, rollerblading and picnicking.
His biography reads less like a list of accomplishments than a portrait of someone deeply engaged with his city and the people around him.
